Simple Dynamic Stretches I

Obviously, the best way to work out is having stretched before and making a point to stretch after. This will keep our muscles loose and keep them from getting shortened, cramping up, pulling or causing a joint twist.

But, sometimes you don't have the time needed before training to do an entire stretch-and-hold routine for your entire body. Here are some quick dynamic stretches, of which you can do some repetitions quickly before jumping onto the mat. This is not going to give you same benefit of a complete stretching routine, but it's better than just not stretching at all due to shortage of time.

These 6 simple dynamic stretches can help you loosen up a little bit in a short time span:

  • Neck rotations

  • Hip rotations

  • Knee rotations

  • Arm-swinging trunk rotations

  • “Toy soldier” Straight-leg Kick-ups

  • “Hip open and close” abductor & adductor stretch
